Demonstration of the drilling process for different conditions and locations
Pilot Hole Phase
We would like these illustrations to be recreated with more details to provide our customers with an in-depth visual aid of the HDD process.
By using these illustrations, we aim to help people understand how HDD works and its benefits in installing utilities underground while minimizing disruption to the surface and existing structures.

Reaming Phase
This step prepares the borehole to accommodate the pipe or conduit that will be installed.
The reamer is attached to the drill string at the exit point and are rotated and drawn back towards the drilling rig, thus enlarging the pilot hole with each reaming pass.
Illustrate the drilling direction from the exit pit to the entry pit.
Illustrate the reamer gradually enlarging or widening the pilot hole.
Pullback Phase
The fused pipe laid out at the exit pit side is attached in the following sequence, drill pipe string, reamer bit, swivel, pulling head, fused pipe (color should be bluish to replicate AEGION / Underground Solutions fusible C900/C905 pipes)
Illustrate the pipe pullback process. Show the pulling head pulling the pipe string through the enlarged hole.
